Environmental policy Front pageAbout usPoliciesEnvironmental policy1. Introduction1.1. Background and purposeEnersense International Plc and its Group companies (collectively “Enersense”) enable energy transition and reliable telecommunications connections. We are a reliable lifecycle partner for our customers in energy transmission and production, industrial energy transition and telecommunications. Promoting our customers’ responsibility performance is a key part of our strategy. This Environmental Policy outlines Enersense’s objectives and principles defined for Enersense’s material environmental issues. 1.2. ScopeThis Policy applies to Enersense’s employees, business operations and subsidiaries in all of the Group’s countries of operation. In addition to the Environmental Policy, we comply with applicable local laws, and the principles set out in the Policy always constitute the minimum requirements for our operations. 2. ObjectivesAt Enersense, we are committed to these environmental objectives: Promoting our customers’ environmental responsibility Reducing greenhouse gas emissions throughout the value chain Reducing energy consumption and improving environmental efficiency Increasing the use of recycled and low-carbon materials, for example in steel and concrete Reducing waste and improving material recycling Taking biodiversity into account throughout the value chain 3. PrinciplesAt Enersense, we follow these environmental principles: Promoting our customers’ environmental responsibility We promote our customers’ environmental responsibility by seeking to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout our value chain and increase the carbon handprint of our offerings. We provide our customers low-emission options for the entire lifecycle of networks, systems and production facilities. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions throughout the value chain We aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout Enersense’s value chain to mitigate climate change. Enersense has set targets in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its own operations (Scope 1 and 2) and for the entire value chain (Scope 3). The emission reduction targets support the Paris Climate Agreement’s commitment to limit global warming to a maximum of 1.5°C. The majority of Enersense’s emissions arise upstream in the value chain, particularly from the procurement of materials and services. At the upstream end of the value chain, we are looking at opportunities to procure lower-emission alternatives for our customer projects, especially in the case of emissions-intensive purchases. In our own operations, most of direct greenhouse gas emissions arise from the fuel consumption of vehicles and machinery. Our goal is to electrify our fleet and switch to renewable fuels. We also invest in energy efficiency measures for vehicles, such as vehicle electrification, choice of appropriately sized cars, vehicle fleet optimisation, and logistics planning and economical driving. For our own new electricity and heat purchase agreements, we only choose emission-free energy or energy produced from renewable source. The growing demand for green energy solutions creates significant business opportunities for Enersense, as the energy transition increases demand and investment in services related to clean technology and sustainable energy systems. At the downstream end of the value chain, our green energy services promote the use of renewable energy and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Integrating environmental impacts into all our activities We comply with environmental legislation and other applicable requirements and obligations. Our environmental activities are guided by an ISO 14001:2015 compliant environmental management system, for which we maintain certification through regular audits. We identify environmental aspects related to our activities and reduce our adverse environmental impact in cooperation with our employees, customers and suppliers. To improve our environmental work, we also cooperate and discuss with other stakeholders, such as NGOs and industry associations. Our aim is to regularly monitor the environmental impacts of our operations and value chain, and we update Enersense’s material sustainability aspects and associated targets and measures as necessary. We review sustainability themes as part of the Group’s risk management alongside other risk categories. Potential environmental incidents or accidents are managed by ensuring that employees are familiar with the policies and processes and operate in accordance with permits. We provide training to ensure that our people have the necessary skills and competences to manage environmental responsibilities in their daily work. Continuous environmental efficiency improvement The environmental impact of Enersense’s operations has been examined throughout the value chain. Our aim is to reduce the negative environmental impacts of our operations, taking into account the entire value chain and lifecycle. We improve our environmental and energy efficiency by developing our processes, operating models and working methods with environmental factors in mind. By improving our environmental efficiency, we aim to produce projects and services with less material and waste, causing fewer emissions and using less energy. We promote energy efficiency as part of other environmental and sustainable development measures, targets and systems. Promoting circular economy and waste management We aim to improve the recycling of materials and reduce the proportion of mixed waste by promoting sorting and reuse of materials. We work in accordance with the waste hierarchy, which means that our primary goal is to reduce the amount of waste generated. When waste is generated, we aim to reuse or recycle it. We sort the waste we generate and deliver it to appropriate treatment facilities. If recycling is not possible, we aim to recover the waste as energy. Taking biodiversity into account As an energy sector operator, Enersense has direct and indirect impacts on biodiversity. We aim to further develop our biodiversity work and incorporate biodiversity aspects into our operations. In our customer projects, we follow the guidelines of the authorities and our customers to take biodiversity into account. In construction projects, we avoid sensitive habitats and schedule construction for times when the impact on nature is as small as possible. When selecting areas, we use biodiversity indices to assess and minimise impacts and avoid nature conservation areas and areas with valuable species. In significant projects, we apply an environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedure. In the impact assessment, we also examine the views of citizens and other interested parties. Promoting supply chain responsibility Responsible material and service procurement in the supply chain plays a significant role in Enersense’s responsibility work. We examine our supply chain, particularly with regard to emission- and water-intensive purchases such as steel, and are in discussions with our key suppliers about more sustainable alternatives, such as the use of low-carbon and recycled steel and concrete. In addition to legal obligations, Enersense requires its suppliers to actively pursue the prevention of environmental damage. 4. Roles and responsibilitiesWe promote environmental responsibility at the Group level and in our businesses. Indicators, targets and key measures are defined at the Group level. Our businesses implement measures to achieve the targets, and progress is monitored regularly. Our management is responsible for making sure we have the resources and conditions we need to take care of environmental issues in a responsible way. Customer service staff need to know the environmental impact of what we offer and give our customers solutions with a lower carbon handprint. Every employee is responsible for working in line with our objectives and policies. Continuous improvement of our activities, also from an environmental perspective, is everyone’s responsibility, and every employee must actively promote the areas for improvement they have identified in their own work. Enersense’s Board of Directors approves the Environmental Policy and the definition of environmental impacts and risks as part of the double materiality assessment. The members of the Group Leadership Team are accountable for ensuring that the personnel in the units they manage comply with the practices set out in the Environmental Policy. The Sustainability Team is responsible for ensuring that the Environmental Policy is appropriate for Enersense, includes a commitment to compliance and continuous improvement of our environmental management system, and provides a framework for setting and evaluating environmental goals. 5. Effective date and updatesThis Environmental Policy has been approved by Enersense’s Board of Directors and will come into force on 31 October 2025. This Policy will replace similar policies previously applied at Enersense. The Group’s Head of Communications and Responsibility is responsible for reviewing the Policy regularly and whenever regulatory changes are made to the issues covered by the Policy. The Sustainability Team ensures that the Policy is up to date and communicated throughout the organisation.
