We are currently looking for a Shift Leader for our client in Wolfsburg, Germany. The start of the project is as soon as possible.

Main tasks for this position are:

  • The Shift Leader is responsible for the safe operation of the plant during commissioning
  • Direction of the respective shift operators
  • Observance of safety guidelines as well as identifying and eliminating hazards 
  • Ensuring operation in consultation with the Commissioning Team
  • Instruction of shift operators (internal and client) on the safe operation of the plant
  • Observance of specifications from operating manuals and other plant documentation, and Commissioning Leader instructions
  • Report abnormal and or not optimum equipment operation to the Commissioning Leader/ Commissioning System leader base on his experience operator manual and other plant documentation
  • Documentation of all activities and particular incidents in the plant shift logbook
  • Acceptance of the plant from the previous and handover to the subsequent shift
  • Information to the Commissioning Manager and other persons according to the alarm plan in the event of damage or other exceptional incident
  • Observance of all statutory provisions and specifications from authorities concerning operation of the plant 
  • Prepare the Unit (Unit Start up, Load setpoint, Unit ready for trip test´s, etc.) in order to perform tests and daily commissioning activities according to plan
  • Support of load plan preparation and coordination with Load dispatcher the planned activities and none planned activities
  • Coordination with other partners (e.g. Client) the delivery of consumables (e.g. demin water, fuel oil, coal, gas) in time
  • Support the PTW Manager and take over responsibility of the PTW Manager in the absence of him 
  • Other duties as assigned

Keys to success:

  • Minimum 5 years work experience in similar work
  • Qualified to operate a boiler. Certificate passed training of “boiler operator” (“Kesselwärter” by Kraftwerksschule Essen, TÜV or other organisation) or similar qualification or even higher training
  • Knowledge of legal regulations, ordinances and rules
  • Knowledge of physical and technical basics 
  • Knowledge of measurement and control technology (MSR) 
  • Knowledge of heat and combustion theory 
  • Knowledge of Heating systems and fuel science 
  • Knowledge of Furnaces and flue gas flues 
  • Good Knowledge of Boiler types, boiler plants and boiler operation 
  • Good Knowledge of Equipment of steam boiler plants 
  • Knowledge of environmental protection topics and handling substances hazardous to water
  • German and English language skills
