We are currently looking for a HSE Manager for our client in Hamina, Finland. Start of the project is as soon as possible.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Ensure we maintain the companies current Management Systems inclusive of all associated policies, plans and procedures, and to manage the transition to any updated standards as they are introduced (ISOs 9001, 14001, 27001 and others as they become relevant)
  • Carry out audits of the processes and procedures, and to make, and implement where required, improvement recommendations as necessary
  • Ensure the correct paperwork/certification is completed for each project
  • Maintain on an ongoing basis, third party accreditation for the Management Systems
  • Review and update the project based procedures to ensure they remain relevant and compliant against industry recognised standards and meet or exceed its various accreditation schemes’ requirements
  • Inspect and audit the technical compliance of projects in regards to the standards that they have been designed to
  • Carry out audits of projects, inclusive of project teams and sub-contractors, at varying stages of completion, and to make improvement recommendations as necessary
  • Ensure all technical audits are closed out with all remedial works and/or design issues resolved within the agreed timescales
  • Implement and maintain the group of Companies Occupational Health & Safety Management System inclusive of all associated policies, plans and procedures
  • Assist as required with inspections and audits on project sites, identifying any unsafe plant, working conditions, practices and hazards. To assist in the collation of reports on the results of such inspections and to make recommendations for any remedial action and any hazards identified
  • Assess sub-contractor’s Health & Safety processes and procedures prior to approval and to monitor their compliance against group standards and the requirements of Health & Safety legislation
  • Support in the reporting of the cause of any accidents, the circumstances leading to them and the compilation of the necessary reports to prevent recurrence
  • Liaise with Human Resources and to advise on Health & Safety training matters, and where necessary, assist in the implementation of training programmes
  • Assist where required in the creation of RAMS where specific Health & Safety advice is required for the works. RAMS are to be initially created by the appropriate project team
  • Achieve and maintain on an ongoing basis, third party accreditation for the group of companies Occupational Health & Safety Management System
  • Maintain ISO & governing body accreditation(s) per annum and deliver continuous improvement of standards
  • Create and review company policies & procedures ensuring they are compliant with current standards & legislation
  • Attend external audits as required by accreditation bodies
  • Maintain, where practicable zero enforcement notices (EMS)
  • Advise on all dealings with any regulatory bodies (EA/ HSE/ ICO etc)
  • Maintain ISO accreditation per annum (once ISO obtained) and deliver continuous improvement of standards
  • Manage the accident and incident investigation process and where practicable, maintain zero enforcement & RIDDOR notices
  • Advise on all dealings with HSE or other regulatory bodies
  • Ensuring all daily / weekly / Month for internal audits are undertaken
  • Ensure Annual Occupational Health Checks are carried out and reviewed in timely fashion making suggestions for further wellbeing checks/ assessments as required
  • Carry out annual DSE assessments, review and respond accordingly to individual needs
  • Promote positive wellbeing, health & safety awareness and Drive the company “Safety First” culture

Requirements:

  • Highly competent in Construction related QHSE
  • Excellent relationship management and influencing skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous experience of working within the Fire and Security industry
  • Experienced in achieving SLA’s, identifying gaps against standards, and implementing improvement solutions
  • Focussed on performance targets and driving performance through utilising metrics
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills and lead by example
  • Ability to be assertive when necessary
  • The ability to work well under pressure
  • Solid organisational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities and achieve tight deadlines
  • Highly responsive and proactive, able to adapt to daily changes in workload and areas of focus
  • High attention to detail and analytical skills
  • CSCS card holder (or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications including the use of Office 365
  • To be able to display initiative and work well alone and with others

  • COSHH Awareness
  • Fire Risk Assessor (approved by IFE)
  • Fire, Security & Data accredited certified design training
